Bebek95 Unit, established under the roof of Boğaziçi University Psychology Research and Application Center (BUPAM), aims to support equal developmental conditions for brain development and parent-child relationship in order to guarantee the right to growth to every child. By explaining the critical importance of early childhood to the widest possible audience, we strive to ensure that every child has the right to a good start in life, regardless of their circumstances.

Academic Team

Feyza ÇORAPÇI, PhD

Professor Feyza Çorapçı is a faculty member at Boğaziçi University, in the Department of Psychology since 2006. She received her MA and Ph.D. degrees in clinical psychology from Purdue University in the USA. Prof. Dr. Çorapçı’s research focuses on family experiences, parenting, and environmental factors that contribute to young children’s socio-emotional development. Another line of her research concerns preventive interventions to reduce poverty-related risk factors and improve disadvantaged children’s well-being.

Serra MÜDERRİSOĞLU, PhD

Professor Serra Müderrisoğlu, is a faculty member at Boğaziçi University, in the Department of Psychology since 2000. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology Department at the University of Michigan. She obtained her Clinical Psychology master’s degree and doctoral degree at Boston University. Her research interest is on psychosocial development of children who live in difficult conditions. In regard to this, she developed various preventive implementation programs. Dr. Müderrisoğlu, who also specialized in transforming traumatic experiences, conducts psychotherapy sessions with adults.

Z. Hande SART, PhD

Associate Professor Z. Hande Sart, is a faculty member at Boğaziçi University, in the Educational Sciences department since 2004. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychological Counseling and Guidance and Psychology (Double Major) at Boğaziçi University. She obtained her MA degree in Clinical Psychology from Boğaziçi University. Her research focused on math learning difficulty and neuropsychological deficits in children with epilepsy. Dr. Sart completed her doctoral degree in Applied Developmental Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh. She investigated stability and change in behavioral problems during preschool years. Her current research interests are on behavioral problems in children, neuro-developmental diversities, children and disability rights, and inclusive psychological counseling.

Nihal YENİAD, PhD

Assistant Professor Nihal Yeniad has been a faculty member at Boğaziçi University, Department of Educational Sciences since 2015. She received her BA in Psychology and her MA in Clinical Psychology from Boğaziçi University, and her Ph.D. in Child and Family Studies from Leiden University, the Netherlands. Dr. Yeniad studies the effects of psychoeducational programs for parents on the development of young children.

Field Coordination Team

Psy. S. Hande BENVENİSTE, MA

After graduating from Boğaziçi University, Department of Sociology, Hande Benveniste studied Film, TV, and Video at UCLA and worked as an advertiser for 15 years. She has been involved in various projects within BUPAM since 2015, along with her Developmental Psychology graduate study. She has been working as the coordinator of the early childhood unit in BUPAM for the dissemination of the Istanbul95 project since 2017.

Psy. S. Nazlı KALKAN, MA

Nazlı Kalkan, completed her Bachelor’s degree on Psychological Counseling and Guidance in Atatürk University. She obtained her applied psychology master’s degree from İstanbul Commerce University. Since 2007, she has been continuing her work with several training and supervisions in the field of psychotherapy and family therapy, meanwhile supervised and coordinated the Maltepe95 Project in 2017. Together with her work in the field of psychotherapy, she also undertakes the duty of supervisor at Bebek95 unit. She works in the early childhood unit, established within the body of BÜPAM, since 2020.

Kadriye TÜMER, MA

Kadriye Tümer, has a Bachelor’s degree in sociology from Hacettepe University. She obtained her master’s degree from Selçuk University. Kadriye Tümer worked as a teacher and as an administrator in various schools between 1995 and 2017. She also supervised and coordinated the Sultanbeyli95 project between 2017-2019. She has been working in the early childhood unit of BÜPAM since 2020.
